iOS security update
Apple has reacted speedily to recent suggestions that all their iOS mobile phones and other devices could be subject to malicious attacks by releasing an update. The update plugs a hole that could allow a hacker to use a maliciously crafted PDF file to gain access to a user’s system. iOS 4.3.4 can be downloaded now and installed to any currently supported iOS-based devices by connecting to iTunes and choosing to update.
The issue resided in the way all their flagship devices – iPhones, iPads and iPod touches – deal with infected PDF documents, which reportedly allows attackers to gain administrator rights and hence get access to private information. The US cooperation made the following comment: “Apple takes security very seriously, we’re aware of this reported issue and developing a fix that will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.” This fix was released under a week after this statement. read more
